Hunter Thompson Letter Signed From 1961 Shortly After Settling in at Big Sur -- "…have a view looking 15 miles down the coast…"

Hunter S. Thompson typed letter signed with an additional handwritten note, written to his friend Paul Semonin shortly after settling in at Big Sur sometime in late May or early June 1961. Dated only Wednesday, letter reads in part, "What do you mean, 'small box of summer things?' You were supposed to bring a great carload of gear! I wanted it…I have just put in a huge picture window & now have a view looking 15 miles down the coast. Also my icebox arrived today, compliments of the landlady…I have only two wheels & Maxine [Ambus] got uppity and had to be squashed. There is no money here -- how about you? Job? etc? What plans now?…[signed] H". He additionally handwrites, "What of mine do you have? - besides lamp?". Sheet of salmon colored paper measures 8.5" x 5.75" with torn lower edge. Very good condition.
