Interesting letter from Dick Clayton of Famous Artists Corp. to Jane Deacy regarding co-managing James Dean. Dated 7 May 1954 shortly after the joint agreement was signed to represent Dean, Clayton writes in part, ''We have received copy of Jimmy's contract...Jane, it sure is gratifying to hear an actor speak so well of his agent. He is so fond of you and so grateful for all the help and advice you have given him. / I am very fond of Jim, and understand him and all his problems. I have gotten him started with a dentist here...Also my doctor has cleared up his throat infection due to too many cigarettes. He is getting a good tan and looks darn well.''
Letter continues, ''He found a '53 MG car which he bought last week and Warners gave him another $700 advance which they will deduct from his salary...He is like a kid with a new toy with this MG...'' Single page letter measures 7.25'' x 10.5''. Near fine condition. From the estate of James Dean's agent, Jane Deacy.
