Moe Howard handwritten page from the draft of his autobiography, ''Moe Howard & the 3 Stooges''. In this manuscript, Howard recalls his very earliest years in humorous detail. Page reads in part, ''From the middle of 1900 when I fell from the Peek-a-boo machine and became blind in early 1901 and my eyesight was restored in late 1902 there wasn't very much to relate about myself...my eyesight would slowly return to normal. I was then 5 years of age. In the interim Shemp was creating quite a disturbance telling our Mom & Pop that I was faking the loss of my sight and was using that subterfuge to spy on him. This was really laughable. It was during this time that Shemp was stuffing things into the toilets and stopping them up. My brothers Irving & Jack age 11 and 9 were doing very well in school particularly Irving. Jack was good but slow. Shemp was not only slow but he was bad. I was to go to school in 6 months at age of 5 1/2 that is into the Kindergarten...Kindergarten was not for me I raised hell right from the start. My worst offense was the dipping of little spit balls into the ink well and blowing them at different kids in the room. I at one time put some red ink in my mouth laid my head on the desk and let the red ink ooze out of my mouth. That upset the teacher, the principal and the students and called for bringing my parents to school...The kids in the class and I had a real great time of it. Altho I paid for it at home that night with my Pap's strap.'' Single page on yellow lined paper measures 8'' x 12.5''. Very good plus condition. From the Moe Howard estate.
