U.S. flag flown to the moon on Apollo 17 in 1972, the last Apollo mission. Flag is displayed in wooden mount with plaques reading, "This flag was carried to the Moon aboard the spaceship America Apollo XVII December 7-19, 1972" and "Presented to James D. Watkins In grateful appreciation for his significant contribution to this Nation's efforts in Manned Space Flight", with facsimile signature of Christopher C. Kraft, Jr., Director of the Johnson Space Center. The recipient, James Watkins, was Chief, Software Development Branch at NASA during the Apollo 17 mission. Flag measures 5.75" x 4" and display measures 9" x 11.25". Minor nicks to flag casing and wooden corners, overall in very good condition, with flag remaining in near fine condition. With an LOA from James Watkins' daughter.
