Simon Cameron signed military appointment as Secretary of War in Abraham Lincoln's cabinet. Dated 18 June 1861, Cameron appoints Colonel William B. Franklin to the U.S. 12th Infantry; Franklin would soon be promoted to Major General in July 1862. Bifolium document measures 8'' x 10''. Chipping at fold lines and block of toning, overall very good condition. Accompanied by a 5.75'' x 8.875'' engraving of Cameron.
