Andrew Carnegie signed early edition from 1888 of his travelogue ''An American Four-in-Hand in Britain'', Carnegie's entertaining account of his visit to Great Britain. New York: Charles Scribner & Sons, 1888. Carnegie signs the flyleaf, ''To My Friends / Mr. & Mrs. Dull / With Kind regards / Andrew Carnegie / New York Jany 31/88''. Carnegie's travelogue was quite popular at the turn of the century, called an ''expression of a vigorous personality'' by one reviewer. Today the steel magnate is also remembered for writing ''The Gospel of Wealth'', in which he calls upon the self-made to engage in large-scale philanthropy. Bound in publisher's red boards with gilt lettering. Measures 5.25'' x 7.5''. Light wear to boards and front hinge starting though still a tight copy. Overall in very good condition.
