Society of Cincinnati document signed by George Washington, conferring membership in the exclusive Society available only to Revolutionary War officers and their eldest male heirs. Signed ''Go: Washington'' as President of the Society. Document was signed in advance by Washington and unaccomplished, with no name filled out, possibly the reason that there's no tracing over Washington's signature as found on the majority of Society of Cincinnati documents, which remain among the most coveted manuscripts signed by Washington. Vellum document measures approximately 20'' x 14'', with decorative vignettes by Auguste L. Belle and Jean-Jacques Andre LeVeau depicting the Society of Cincinnati seal alongside an American in knight's armor crushing the British standard and the American eagle striking the British lion and Britannia with thunderbolts. Near fine with vellum still bright and Washington's signature prominent.
