John Steinbeck typed note unsigned and undated, related to literary scholar Peter Lisca who authored several books on Steinbeck's novels. Composed to his typist Mary Morgan, note reads in part, ''...Mr. Lisca has for some years been compiling a volume on my past literary work, and he apparantly [sic] has done a very good job. He has only one small failing......he has not the slightest vestige of a sense of humor. Consequently, his work on my work is a very singularly humorless job, although very scholastic...'' Single page measures 8.5'' x 11''. Folds and creasing, overall near fine.
