Arthur Ashe commemorative ''Le Coq Sportif'' plaque awarded to the star during a trip to Brazil in 1986. Ashe was seen sporting the brand's shoes and clothing at various tournaments as his sponsor. Though Ashe retired in 1980 after suffering a career-debilitating heart attack, he didn't slow down his career in the public realm, contributing his time and effort to countless tennis and civil rights organizations. Plaque reads: ''The management of le Coq Sportif do Brazil congratulates Mr. Arthur Ashe for his honourable presence in Sao Paulo addressing tenis [sic] clinics to young and future Brazilian tenis players. Thank You Mr. Ashe / Sao Paulo, November 09, 1986 / Manuel Garcia / Adelson P. Gallina''. Verso of plaque reads: ''Al Almirante Oscar A. Quihillalt el reconocimic''. Brass plaque measures 7'' x 5'' with one intentionally folded corner. Tarnishing throughout, else very good condition. With an LOA from Ashe's widow.
