S. Christa McAuliffe typed letter signed, and her official NASA photo. McAuliffe perished in the Challenger space shuttle disaster in 1986. A non-astronaut, she was selected by NASA to represent the public and furthering of human knowledge as the first teacher in space. Her letter to a fan is signed ''S. Christa McAuliffe''. Dated 18 September 1985 upon NASA stationery, it reads in part: ''...I'm excited about my upcoming shuttle flight and appreciate your interest...'' 1pp. measures 8.5'' x 11''. Near fine. 8'' x 10'' semi-matte official NASA publicity photo is in fine condition.
