Zane Grey handwrites and signs a check, dated 12 November 1930. The dentist from Zanesville, Ohio, who wrote a series of popular Western novels, writes a check to ''John C. Laif'' for $12.75 on the The Altadena National Bank. Grey's wife, Lina, would become president of this bank two years later. Grey, whose most popular novel, ''The Riders of the Purple Sage,'' was published in 1912, published ''The Wolf Tracker'' the year of this check. Near fine.
