Original RIAA gold record award celebrating 500,000 copies sold of The J. Geils Band 1982 album, ''Showtime!'' As the rock band's thirteenth album and third live album, it achieved great success with the help of manager Ken Kragen, to whom this award was given. Formed in 1967, the The J. Geils Band began with an R&B sound that evolved into new wave, around the time this album was released. Gold record displays side 1 of the album, and gold plaque at bottom displays record cover, reading: ''Presented to Ken Kragen to commemorate the sale of more than 500,000 copies of the EMI America Records long-playing record album 'Showtime'''. Framed and displayed against a black mat to an overall size of 16.5'' x 20.5''. A noticeable scratch runs vertically through glass on frame, though record is pristine, and piece is otherwise near fine.
