Civil War railroad pass from Atlanta at the close of the pivotal Atlanta Campaign. Print to left edge reads ''Citizen's Pass'', and the heading is labeled ''Head-Quarters Department of the Cumberland''. Datelined Atlanta, Georgia, 16 September 1864, two weeks after the fall of Atlanta, pass is signed by Lt. H.M. Duffield as assistant Provost Marshall General and member of the 9th Michigan Infantry. Partially-printed pass filled out in elegant cursive permits ''Jesse Holland wife five children & two servants to His Home 6/Six miles from Dalton There to remain.'' Marked ''Good for Six Days'', pass is numbered 1528 in red ink. Measures 7.25'' x 3.25''. Toning and creasing, overall very good.
