General Guillaume-Mathieu Dumas autograph letter signed, dated 20 January 1810. The letter refers to a previous correspondence between Dumas and Count Barbes-Marbois, Napoleon's Treasurer: "…the letter from Marbois should be forwarded to Count de Castries [Armand Charles Augustin de la Croix]…G. Cte MDumas". A compatriot in the American Revolutionary War, Dumas said of George Washington, "His dignified address, the simplicity of his manners…surpassed our expectation and won every heart." 7" x 8.75". Light toning, else fine condition.
