Jefferson Davis signed cabinet photo. The confederate leader pens on the verso in purple ink, ''Jefferson Davis / Beauvoir, Miss. / 8th April 1881 / Mr. Edward W. Bok''. Beauvoir was Davis' home after the war where he wrote ''The Rise and Fall of the Confederate Government'' during the time he signed this photo. The recipient, Edward Bok was a Pulitzer Prize-winning author and magazine editor. Image taken by Howell, New York measures 4.25'' x 6.5''. Toning and foxing to border, else near fine.
