Scarce autograph note signed by Mohawk leader Joseph Brant, one of the most important Native American leaders in colonial America who took up arms as a Loyalist during the Revolutionary War in order to protect Iroquois property rights. He was one of the few Native American warriors to lead British troops. Postscript from a longer letter reads in full, ''N.B. I am Sorry that Business prevented me from paying my Friends in Your Quarter a visit last Summer. Should the Winter prove good I intend to do myself the pleasure of coming to See, a few lines from you by the Bearer will be very exceptable. / JB''.
