Letter from Winton Dean, James Dean's father, composed on 21 January 1956 shortly after Dean's death. Possibly handwritten by Ethel Dean (Winton's wife), letter concerns Dean's estate and re-running James Dean's television shows. Letter reads in part, ''...my right to assign rights to Jimmys television shows at this time to any agency might be in question since they did belong to him, and all his property and such are tied up and will be for some time in probate of his estate...'' Two page letter on two sheets measures 8.5'' x 11''. Near fine condition. With original mailing envelope postmarked 23 January 1956 from Santa Monica.
