Letter from Jane Deacy's father-in-law, dated 24 October 1956, about one year after James Dean's death. As Executive Director of the International Association of Art Critics, William Henry Deacy writes to McNeel Memorials about a memorial for James Dean, ''Note the article about James Dean - and it is a coincidence that my daughter-in-law was his agent and she knows all about the financial situation in regard to Dean's estate...all of his estate went to his father with whom he was not on very good terms. I will inquire of her whether anything of a larger or more appropriate memorial is contemplated...'' Deacy then handwrites a note at top to Jane, ''Is there any chance of something nice being done for Jimmy Dean...'' Single page measures 8.5'' x 11''. Very good plus condition. From the estate of James Dean's agent, Jane Deacy.
