Rare first edition, first printing of the classic adventure novel, ''Tarzan of the Apes'' by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Chicago: A.C. McClurg & Co., 1914. Bound in original publisher's maroon cloth boards with gilt lettering, novel includes all first printing points, notably no acorn at the base of the spine between ''A.'' and ''C.'', heavier paper, and Old English font for the printer on the copyright page. Book runs 401pp. and measures 5'' x 7.5''. Some shelf wear, including sunning and rubbing to gilt on spine, cocking and separation starting to hinges. Good condition.
