Winston Churchill signed first Dutch edition of ''A History of the English-Speaking Peoples'', dated 1956 in the year of publication. Amsterdam: Uitgeversmaatschappij Elsevier, 1956-57. Churchill signs the half-title page of Volume I, ''Winston S. Churchill / 1956'' without inscription in black felt-tip. Though begun much earlier, Churchill completed this four-volume series after World War II, with copies translated throughout the world, despite its title. Volumes I-III housed in original dust jackets with wraparound bands; each book in publisher's brown cloth boards with gilt lettering on orange panels. Books measure 6'' x 8.875'' and run approximately 350-400 pages. Some chipping to jackets, in very good condition. Minor wear and toning to books, overall near fine.
