Lot of two documents related to the Texas Revolution and American Civil War. Includes:
1) Texian revolutionary Philip Dimmitt autograph letter signed, undated but circa 1830 when Dimmitt operated trading posts in southern Texas. Dimmitt writes to an associate regarding an unpaid account, in small part, ''...he refused to pay me the balance on the draft to the acct specified...Please write me if it is necessary for me to go over. My wife is a little sick and I don't want to leave her at present, if I can avoid it...your friend / Dimmitt''. During the Texas Revolution, Dimmitt was a commander at the Battle of Goliad and barely escaped capture at the Alamo. Letter measures approximately 7.75'' x 12.75''. Splits along fold lines, with bottom portion detached; tape repair along another fold line. Toning and chipped right edge. Overall in fair condition.
2) Arkansas Civil War Amnesty Oath, dated 30 June 1866. A rare version of the Arkansas Oath issued by President Andrew Johnson, giving a full pardon to southern citizens on the condition of pledging allegiance to the United States. Oath measures 8.125'' x 6.125'' on blue lined paper. Very good plus condition. With provenance from University Archives stating that another copy of this oath sold for $3,000.
