Ronald Reagan autograph letter signed as President, composed on White House stationery. Undated but penned near the end of his second term, Reagan writes to film producer Mark Canton an amusing letter about his job prospects after he leaves the White House, even mentioning his famous nickname The Gipper. Letter reads in full,
''Dear Mark / I haven't made any plans for my next job but feel I could hardly return to my earlier profession. After all at 39 yrs. of age (I've been 39 - 38 times now) I could hardly do a remake of playing the Gipper. / But thanks just the same. / Ronald Reagan''.
Letter is written on the first page of a White House notepad, with the rest of the pad still present. Housed in a custom sterling silver Tiffany & Co. frame with "December 25, 1987" engraved at bottom, ostensibly the date of the letter. Single page measures 5" x 8", housed in frame measuring 8.5" x 10.625". Very good condition with minor fading to writing. A scarce handwritten letter by Reagan as President mentioning his famous nickname, the Gipper.
