George Armstrong Custer signed and handwritten check from 30 November 1872, drawn on Planters National Bank for $600 to Thomas Polk & Co. Shortly after Custer penned this check, he would be dispatched to the Dakota Territory where his 7th Cavalry encountered Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull for the first time. The two forces skirmished, each losing a man. Check measures 7'' x 2.75'', encapsulated by Beckett to a size of 9'' x 6''. Some showthrough from writing on verso, overall very good.
