Large oval albumen photo showing hundreds of mourners in Auburn, New York after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Photograph was taken on 23 April 1865 when a memorial service for the late President was held in Auburn and shortly before Lincoln's funeral train passed through Cayuga County, New York. The photo shows hundreds of gatherers along with horse drawn carriages outside the Cayuga County Courthouse. Auburn was also the home of Lincoln's Secretary of State, William H. Seward, who was wounded in the coordinated attack the night of 15 April 1865. Vintage 1860s photograph measures 8'' x 6.125'', mounted to mat measuring approximately 10'' x 8''.
