Hawaiian King Kamehameha IV and Princess Kaahumanu signed royal patent from 18 December 1855, granting land in Hawaii and featuring a hand-drawn map of the parcel. Written in Hawaiian, document has intact red wax seal, next to which the royals sign prominently, ''Kamehameha'' and ''Kaahumanu''. At the time of King Kamehameha IV's reign from 1855 to 1863, the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi was its own country engaged in treaties with several countries including the United States. Bifolium document measures 9.5'' x 15.25'' as folded. Foxing, toning and tape repair along fold separations. Overall in fair condition but with strong signatures.
