Emmett Dalton signed first edition of his memoir, ''When the Daltons Rode'', recounting the exploits of lawmen turned outlaws, the Dalton Gang. Garden City: Doubleday, Doran & Co., Inc., 1931. Dalton inscribes the half-title page, ''To my friend Mr. Howard Knowles with sincere best wishes / Emmett Dalton / May 8, 1931.'' Emmett Dalton was the only survivor of the Gang's final bank robbery despite him sustaining an incredible 23 gunshot wounds in the shootout. After serving 14 years in prison, Emmett wrote this memoir. Bound in publisher's brown boards with a smoking gun on front cover and pictorial endpapers of their final raid. Housed in original dust jacket showing $2.50 price. Heavy chipping and splits to jacket, in poor condition. Separation starting to front hinge and faint dampstaining to first few pages. Book is in very good condition.
