Ulysses S. Grant military commission signed as President, appointing William P. Rogers as First Lieutenant in the 17th Infantry Regiment on 5 February 1873. Countersigned by Secretary of War William W. Belknap. Vellum document measures 15.75'' x 19.5'' complete with blue seal and military vignettes. Shallow folds and light toning, with small chip at lower right edge, overall very good plus condition.
