William Faulkner first edition, first printing of ''Light in August'', one of Faulkner's most enduring works. New York: Harrison Smith and Robert Haas, 1932. First printing with ''Jefferson'' instead of ''Mottstown'' in the first line on page 340. Housed in first printing dust jacket showing price of $2.50 and with ''Boyle, Kay'' as the first author on the rear cover, as called for. Bound in beige buckram boards with orange lettering on front cover, and blue on spine. Book measures 5.5'' x 8.25'' and runs 480pp. Light chipping to jacket and sunning to spine, with closed tear running lengthwise, in very good condition. Light shelf wear and toning to interior, else near fine.
