John F. Kennedy signed first edition of his first book, ''Why England Slept'', a thoughtful examination of Great Britain's policy of appeasement to Adolf Hitler in the 1930s. New York: Wilfred Funk, Inc., 1940 first edition, third printing. Rarely found signed by Kennedy in the year of publication, and without inscription, Kennedy writes on the front free endpaper, ''John F. Kennedy / Oct. 30, 1940''. Bound in publisher's red boards, book measures 5.75'' x 8.375''. Dust jacket is absent. Some spotting to boards, light sunning to spine and some discoloration to endpapers. Very good plus condition. With University Archives COA.
