John Steinbeck typed postcard, referring to himself in the third person and bemoaning the false starts of a new writing project. Postmarked 13 October 1958 from Sag Harbor, New York, Steinbeck writes to his typist Mary Morgan on his personal postcard. Letter reads in full, ''Dear Mary: Old false start JS is up to his tricks again. The stuff finished wasn't worth recording. Another start is necessary and has been made. It was too fancy and not what I wanted as I soon found out when I heard it back and burned the belts. I always make these booboos and I never remember that I do. But I would like this to be good if it is posible [sic]. That is nicely spelled. If I should get decent stuff today I will send it on. Dont forget to keep the plastic liners of the belts. They have to be used over and over again. Yours / JS''. Postcard measures 5.5'' x 3.25''. Very good to near fine condition.
