Coffee mug for ''The High and the Mighty'' (Warner Bros., 1954), starring John Wayne and directed by William Wellman. Beginning in the early 1950s, Wayne famously gave custom-made coffee mugs to the cast and crew of his movies, each personalized for the recipient and featuring the signature gold handle. Designed by Bob Williams, this mug reads ''Bill From Duke'' on one side and ''High and the Mighty'' on the other. It's unclear who the recipient Bill is as there were a few Williams in the crew, including the director William Wellman and aerial photographer William Clothier. Measures 3.75'' tall and 3.25'' wide, not including handle. Light wear, overall very good plus condition.
