Datelined General Headquarters of Verona, 24 November 1796, Napoleon writes to General Baraguay d'Hilliers while conducting the Italian campaign, ''You will, General, have deported from the territories occupied by the French Army, the ten French priests about whom you reported to Milan in your letter the 28th of Brumaire. / Bonaparte / You will find here attached an account of an outing made by the garrison of Mantua. You will see that the outcome was not advantageous. You will have it printed.'' Intriguing single-page document measures 10'' x 14''. Toned and worn right border, else near fine. Accompanied by complete translation.
