The partially-printed document dated 29 February 1829 acknowledges that Abraham Carpenter of New York has paid off a mortgage debt incurred six years prior. Astor amassed his record-breaking fortune in the fur trade and New York's real estate market. Lot includes an additional document bearing Astor's name dated the month prior. Document measures 8.25'' x 7''. Toning and chipping to right edge, staining to upper left, and complete separation along horizontal fold. Good condition.
